New video format brings the stories of Greater Cincinnati’s social entrepreneurs and changemakers to life
CINCINNATI, OH — September 2026 — Flywheel Social Enterprise Hub is launching Season 2 of ON THE FLY! — and this season, audiences can watch the conversations as well as listen.
After launching Season 1 as an audio podcast, ON THE FLY! returns with full video episodes available on YouTube, giving audiences a new way to meet the entrepreneurs, innovators and community leaders using business and innovation to create meaningful change.
Season 1 produced 28 episodes and surpassed 1,000 downloads, including a live recording during StartupCincy Week. Season 2 builds on that momentum with deeper founder stories while expanding its guest list to include community changemakers, funders, board members and other leaders helping strengthen Greater Cincinnati’s social impact ecosystem.
Season 2 begins with two women whose stories connect Flywheel’s past and future: Suzanne Smith, the original visionary and creator behind Flywheel Social Enterprise Hub 15 years ago, and Allyson West, founder of the Cindependent Film Festival and a graduate of Flywheel’s 2025 Elevate Impact Accelerator.
Smith shares the story of the vision that launched Flywheel and the evolution of Cincinnati’s social enterprise community over the past 15 years. West brings the story forward, sharing her entrepreneurial journey building Cindependent and creating new opportunities for independent filmmakers and Cincinnati’s creative community.
Founder Stories at the Heart of ON THE FLY!
Season 2 continues to put the stories of social entrepreneurs front and center, including Domonique Peebles, founder of Brick Gardens, whose work uses urban agriculture to address food access while creating economic and educational opportunities in Cincinnati communities.
Season 2 also broadens the conversation to include the changemakers, organizations and partners helping build a stronger social impact ecosystem. Other guests include:

Michael O’Bryan, nationally recognized strategist, educator and Impact Catalyst Midwest keynote speaker, discussing innovation and new approaches to complex social challenges.
Together, these conversations provide a window into an expanding community of people using entrepreneurship, investment, collaboration and innovation to address some of our region’s biggest challenges.

Hosted by longtime Flywheel Coach Joan Kaup and produced by Joey Scarillo, ON THE FLY! was created to share the experiences and insights of social entrepreneurs and the people who support them.
Kaup has coached emerging nonprofit and for-profit organizations through Flywheel for more than a decade and brings more than 40 years of experience in Greater Cincinnati’s business community. Scarillo, also a Flywheel Coach, brings extensive podcast and marketing experience, including producing and hosting two Webby Award-winning podcasts before moving from New York City to Cincinnati.
ON THE FLY! highlights the businesses, funders and leaders pursuing a double bottom line — creating both financial value and positive social impact. Through candid conversations about ideas, challenges, successes and lessons learned, the podcast aims to inspire listeners — and now viewers — to act on their own ideas and passions.
As Flywheel celebrates 15 years of supporting purpose-driven entrepreneurs, Season 2 of ON THE FLY! provides an expanded platform to share their stories and introduce more people to the entrepreneurs and changemakers shaping the future of Greater Cincinnati.
