The Next is Best to Come
I have been known to say, there’s nothing in a bottle or a pill that will make you feel more energized about the future than working with a social entrepreneur. To meet a person at the root of their passion for creating a more just and sustainable world, and the intersection of their personal skill and determination is a privilege and a responsibility.
What I love about the Flywheel philosophy is we are coaches, not advisors. We ask questions, we don’t direct. We reflect on what we hear, and help organize the options for the entrepreneur to choose. We open doors, we share our networks, and we connect great people to great people. We approach running an accelerator this way because we believe the entrepreneurs we support are the experts of their dreams.
This probably sounds like a pitch to become a Flywheel coach and yes!, please consider joining us, but it’s also about something else. I have to confess to you I have been brainwashed by the social media posts of all of my retired friends. You make travel, grandchildren, and pickleball leagues with a smattering of volunteer or light consulting work thrown in look way too enticing. I notified the Flywheel Board earlier in the year of my intention to retire. We have been working out the details. If was supposed to be June 30th, but we have some loose ends and some balls in the air, so I have agreed to stay on in a part time role a little longer, as necessary.
There is a job posting on our website if you might be interested. We have been hearing from some great people and our board is looking forward to starting interviews soon. The amazing Samuel Baker will continue to advance programming and will be the keeper of the Flywheel flame.
I want to thank the many people who made this a perfect ride. The Flywheel Board, the team here, both staff and volunteers, our great social entrepreneurs, and of course, the individuals, corporations, government leaders and foundations that support our work. We are so proud to have you on our side, and we truly hope we do you proud when you come to our demo days and see the talented and diverse founders that come to us as they are, and leave ready for what’s next.
I’m excited for what’s next at Flywheel. If only my competitive Pickleball career had such remarkable prospects for the future.
Sincerely,
Laura Tepe Randall
