Meet Samuel Baker, Flywheel’s New Program Director

Samuel Baker as joined Flywheel as Program Director. He is bringing both project management know-how and lived experience to our Flywheel team. Samuel will be responsible for growing Flywheel’s Equity Programing as as well as overseeing Flywheel’s entre program lineup.

“My career has been fueled by a singular passion: to cultivate genuine, lasting change in my community. Flywheel's mission to use the power of social enterprise to make a more sustainable and equitable community resonates deeply with me, as it perfectly combines my entrepreneurial spirit, love for the city of Cincinnati, and my commitment to social impact. I'm thrilled to join the Flywheel team, and I can't wait to use my skills and experience to help early-stage founders turn their dreams into impactful realities.”-Samuel Baker

Samuel holds a Bachelor's Degree in General Business Administration and Management. Prior to joining Flywheel, he spent six years at City Gospel Mission developing and scaling a multi-site high school career readiness program designed to help under-resourced students succeed in their education while achieving their own personal and professional goals. He currently serves as the Board President of Sprouting Minds, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit focused on trauma-informed therapeutic horticulture as a means to promote mental health and resilience for at-risk students.

“I met Samuel almost a year ago and always had a feeling he was someone who could make Flwheel stronger,” Said Laura Tepe, Flywheel Executive Director. “I am so grateful for everyone who helped bring the pieces together to add Samuel to the team, and to Samuel for agreeing to take on the Flywheel mission.”

Samuel will play a big role in organizing our Housing Stability Hack-a-Thon. In January, Flywheel will be calling on the innovation community to participate in a one week sprint to help reduce evictions. The goal is to interrupt the path from being at-risk for housing loss to homeless. We are looking for technology, data tools, or systems that can allow service agencies to offer the the right intervention at the right time to prevent the family from losing their home. If you might be interested in participating, please connect with us using this form and we will keep you up to date. Those with lived experience are just as welcome as data scientists.

Thank you for celebrating this great news with us, and thank you for being a friend of Flywheel.
