Catching up With The Flywheel Alumni Who's Cleaning Up ....One Trash Bag At a Time.

Litter is ugly. It’s bad for the environment and bad for the soul. One Flywheel alum is on a mission to make getting rid of litter easy, fun, and rewarding.

The Cleanup Collective, a startup from our SustainableCincy 2022 cohort launched this past June. Founder Lucas Williamson secured a contract with the Cincinnati Parks Foundation-Oblitterators. Their monthly cleanup collected more than 15 bags of trash from area parks.

The Cleanup Collective provides an on-demand trailer delivery service with all of the supplies and equipment necessary for a neighborhood cleanup event. When your group is done, the Collective takes the trash away and restocks for the next cleanup.

“Launching a startup is a journey and it felt good to get there,” said Lucas. “We had to make changes to some of our assumptions and it always takes longer than you want it to. But we are online and open to serve any neighborhood organization or volunteer group trying to organize a cleanup.”

Lucas is already thinking about changes he will make for his next cart. He is also having conversations with corporate sponsors and is getting ready to hire a coordinator.
